• The implant is placed over the bone and secured in position.
• The procedure lasts approximately 45–60 minutes.
• It is often combined with rhinoplasty for a more comprehensive result.

What level of pain is expected and what does recovery involve?

Despite the complexity of the area, genioplasty is considered a procedure with low pain levels:

• First 24 hours: Mild tension and slight swelling, easily controlled with simple painkillers.
• Return to work: Usually after 5–7 days.
• Diet: Soft diet is recommended in the first days, along with good oral hygiene if an intraoral incision is used.

Can genioplasty be combined with other facial procedures?

Genioplasty is an ideal complementary procedure. The most common combination is with rhinoplasty, as chin correction enhances the overall nasal result. It also combines very well with neck liposuction or a neck lift to create a well-defined and youthful jawline.

Are there risks or complications associated with genioplasty?

As with any surgical procedure, there are some rare risks:

• Temporary numbness of the lower lip (gradually resolves).
• Mild swelling that subsides within about 2 weeks.

Can chin augmentation be achieved non-surgically?

Chin projection can be enhanced with hyaluronic acid fillers, but the results last up to 18 months and require repetition. Fat transfer offers a more long-lasting result, although at least one repeat session may be needed. All non-surgical options are suitable only for mild cases.
